Patricia Schultz's Obituary
Patricia Schultz, 80, passed away on December 13 in Dallas, Texas after a courageous and gracious battle with Alzheimer’s. Pat was born on February 12, 1937, to Ita Maizlish Linder and Jacob Linder in Havana, Cuba. She grew up in Baltimore, Md. with Ita, her dear stepfather Moishe Weiss and her brother Lou, and was a proud graduate of Forest Park HS. She loved being in little theater and met her beloved husband Bill at a theater party she hosted. Pat and Bill eloped on April Fool’s Day, 1960 and shared a life of love, family, travel, and adventure for nearly 58 years.Pat lived life with love and joy, embracing every new opportunity and every new friend. She loved being a mother to daughter Michelle and stopped working for pay to be THE room mother, Brownie co-leader, team cheerleader and all-around supreme mom volunteer. She was a talented painter, photographer and cook, and a spirited dancer. She also took great joy in volunteering at the Silver Spring Jewish Center, for many years running the Purim Carnival, editing the newsletter and running the mock Seder for the kids. Pat went to college when Michelle did, and she earned her degree with honors from Montgomery College, becoming a proud inductee into Phi Theta Kappa. Pat loved her art classes, astronomy and learning EVERYTHING, and her professors loved her. Pat and Bill traveled the US and the world, never missing a family gathering (joyful or sad) and having great adventures in all 50 states and on 6 continents, including a visit with their children to Pat’s birthplace in Cuba in 2010.Shortly after Pat’s diagnosis, Pat and Bill moved from their home of 49 years and their dear neighbors and family in Silver Spring, Md. to be near their children in Dallas, Texas – the next chapter in their adventure. They were active at Congregation Anshai Torah and were embraced by their new Anshai family. Pat is survived by her husband Allan “Bill” Schultz, daughter Michelle Schultz Meiches and son-in-law Mark, brother Louis Weiss and wife Edie of Baltimore, Md. and many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins. A graveside service was held at Restland Cemetery in Dallas on December 14. Memorial donations may be made to Congregation Anshai Torah or to a meaningful charity of your choice.
