Patricia Brown Trainer's Obituary
Patricia Trainer was born on January 1, 1951 in McAlester, OK to Pauline and Cecil Brown. Patricia passed away on Sunday June 11, 2023 at her home in Grapevine, Texas. Patricia is preceded in death by her parents Pauline and Cecil Brown.
Patricia met and fell in love with beloved husband of 30 years, Thomas (Tom) while attending a work required training course in 1992. She is survived by husband Tom, their two precious dogs Rusty and Brownie and their precious cat Grace. She is also survived by her two sons Ashley Savage (49) and Dylan Savage (46), four grandchildren, Mykenzie (25), Wesley (19), Preston (17), and Dean (10), two brothers Cecil Brown, Jr and Bayerd Brown, her three sisters Cecilia Brown-Petry, Kathryn Hope and Sandra Brown as well as many nieces and nephews.
Patricia was extremely proud of her career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers where she worked for 22 years as a contract specialist. Patricia retired in Dec 2014, having risen to the executive levels of the Contracting organization within the Corps. Patricia met Tom at work, and her coworkers often commented that she must really like him as they would commute to work together each day. They would have lunch together as well and often attended the same meetings representing their respective parts of the organization. Patricia would tell their coworkers that not only were she and Tom in love but that they were also best friends as well and just wanted to be together and do everything together. She loved to tell anyone and everyone she met about the Corps of Engineers and the important work she was involved in in support of our military and civilian public works.
Patricia and Tom loved to travel and had gone on 28 cruises together. They visited 6 of the 7 continents with only Australia remaining. Patricia particularly enjoyed the trips/cruises in and around Europe. She was fascinated with the deep history that can be found throughout Europe. She especially enjoyed visiting the many churches, always stopping to say a prayer in each. She also enjoyed visiting Canada and seeing its beauty. She got to visit Churchill, Manitoba, Canada where Tom was born and see polar bears up close. On many of the cruises Patricia and Tom would often do something that would stretch their comfort level like ziplining, helmet diving, snorkeling, snuba, going down in a submarine or riding underwater scooters. She was adventurous and truly enjoyed them all.
When Patricia wasn’t traveling, she enjoyed reading especially during her retirement years. She would consistently be seen in her favorite recliner with her iPad reading a book. She was always willing to provide a thoughtful review of each of the books she read. She developed a relationship with many of the authors because of these thoughtful reviews. Some authors would even ask her to read and review their book prior to its release to the general public.
Patricia was very outgoing and could and often did strike up a conversation with anyone she happened to meet. From her vast travels she had many Facebook friends from all over the world that she had met and just started talking to.
Patricia’s family was extremely important to her. She had many long talks with them about their lives and would often say “Who would have thought”. She was always available to give her thoughts, opinions or council.
Her family and friends will miss her knowledge, confidence, loyalty and dedication. She is truly loved and will be missed
