Patricia R. Wood's Obituary
Wood, Patricia R., born September 25, 1930, passed away on May 9, 2015. She was born and raised in New York City and resided in Dallas since 1982. She was a graduate of Hunter College of the City University of New York in 1952. She retired as Secretary to the Superintendent of Schools of the Syosset School District, Long Island, New York in 1982. She was a dedicated bridge player and an avid bell collector and gave many programs on the joy of learning about and collecting bells. She was a member of the American Association of University Women and the American Bell Association. She served as President of the American Bell Association in 1995 – 1996. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas A. and Beryl Rawlins and her sister Marlene Garst. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Herbert, son Gary Wood and wife Kathy of Swayzee, Indiana and their children Ryan Wood and wife Kelly, David and Danielle Wood, great grandchildren Owen, Alexander and Elliot Wood, and daughter Karen and husband John of Texas and their children Andrew and Matthew, nephews Thomas and Michael Garst, nieces Patricia Napier, Kathy Chumacero and Alejandra Sotiros and numerous cousins and second cousins. She will be missed and dearly remembered by her many family members and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 3pm at Restland Funeral Home, Wildwood Chapel, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the American Lung Association. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
