Patrick Anderson Turnipseed's Obituary
Patrick Anderson Turnipseed, age 89, of The Colony, Texas died on Thursday, October 10th, 2019 of heart failure in Denton, Texas. Pat was born on November 1st, 1929 in San Saba, Texas to Felix Norman “Pat” Turnipseed & Vera Mae Cook Turnipseed.Pat served in the army during the Korean War from 1948 to 1950 as a medic with the Fifth Regimental Combat Team. He was wounded twice in combat & was eventually discharged from the service & sent home to Texas. Pat married Stella Elaine Tackitt in Dallas, Texas on May 6th, 1967. He worked as a mechanic & an aviation welder for Rockwell International at Love Field Airport. He was also a master woodworker, a talent he acquired at a young age from having to go to work at age sixteen in a saw mill to help support his family. Pat had an eye for things & a great attention to detail which allowed him to give life & character to every piece of furniture he made. He enjoyed tinkering in his shop & building things & he would often repurpose something old into something new from recycled items; again, with an amazing eye for detail & a high level of craftsmanship.Pat is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Elaine Tackitt Turnipseed, his son Mark of The Colony, Texas & their three grandsons, Austin, Justin & Michael; six sisters & brothers, Maxine Briggs of Waxahachie, Texas, Ruth Newberry of Nixon, Texas, Sue Quinteros of Blue Ridge, Texas, Wanda Turnipseed of Dallas, Texas, Dale Turnipseed of Steilacoom, WA & Norman Turnipseed of Garland, Texas, one aunt, Maybelle Cook Ray of Cherokee, Texas, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins & friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pat & Vera Cook Turnipseed, one sister Dora Dean Turnipseed Pogue & an infant son.Visitation for Pat will be held on Tuesday, October 15 th, 2019 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral services for Pat will be conducted by Robert C. Acker at Wildwood Chapel in Restland Memorial Park on Wednesday, October 16th, 2019 at 12:30 pm with burial afterwards at Restland Cemetery in Dallas.
