Paul Morton Barnes' Obituary
Paul Morton Barnes, 91, died peacefully at home in Richardson on June 25, 2020 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Requests to attend an online celebration can be emailed to barnespma@sbcglobal.net. He is buried in Restland Cemetery, Dallas Texas next to his son Paul Lowell Barnes (1956 - 1970). Born in Arlington, Virginia in 1929, he was the youngest of two sons (brother Carl) to Paul Lafayette Barnes and Dorothy Abbott. A chemical and electronics engineer by profession, he worked for many years at Texas Instruments. Since he was an elder and spiritual mentor at CARE Church, his family requests that contributions be made to https://www.carechurch.org in lieu of flowers. To scores of children at church, he was adored as “The Candyman.”
He is survived by his wife of 66 years Mary Anne Smith Barnes, daughter Laurie Erin Barnes, son John David Barnes, granddaughter Genevieve Ying Wang (Albert Chunli Wu), great-grandsons Ezekiel Hayden Wu and Wylie Ellis Wu as well as sister-in-law Gina Smith Norris Rebman (John Rebman). His host of nieces nephews and their children include: Kimberley Anne Norris Huggins (Dan Huggins, Kate and Wade), Barbara Barnes Saporito, Margaret Anne Barnes Hillard (Milton Hilliard, Myles, Mack, Mandy), Gerald Barnes (Debbie Fogel, Sophie, Lilly) , Bob Norris (Laurie Fromberg, Abbie, Liam, Austin).
