Paul Emilio Carranza's Obituary
Paul Emilio Carranza, age 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 13th, 2026, in Dallas, Texas. He was born on March 12, 1946, in San Antonio, Texas to his beloved parents, Pablo and Luz Carranza.
Paul attended St. Patrick grade school and later graduated from Central Catholic High School. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s University. He moved to Dallas in 1976 and worked for the Social Security Administration where he finished a long and successful career. Before moving to Dallas, he proudly served in the United States Air Force. It was during his time in the Air Force that he developed an interest in photography. Over the years, photography became one of his most cherished hobbies. He was a self-taught artist, favoring a “trial-and-error” approach as he liked to say. He will be remembered through the many beautiful works of art he shared with family and friends.
Paul was also an avid tennis player who continued to play tennis well into his later years. He enjoyed the game of chess, and he played many wonderful games over the years with loved ones. He especially enjoyed playing chess with his granddaughters. He was a fan of the Dallas Stars hockey team and always looked forward to going to the games with his longtime friend, Fred Haddad.
He was preceded in death by his parents Pablo and Luz Carranza, and his sister, Teresa Saad. He is survived by his sister Martha Carranza, his niece Michelle Medellin, his nephew Gido Saad, and his granddaughters Adelai Meyer and Elliott Meyer.
A Rosary will be held on Saturday May 16, 2026, at 1:30 PM at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Richardson, TX. A funeral service will later be held on Friday May 29, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in San Antonio, TX.
He is deeply missed and he will long be remembered for his thoughtfulness, his gentle heart, and the beauty he brought into the lives of others with his art.
