Paul Milo Dvorak's Obituary
Paul Milo Dvorak, 76, of Plano, Texas, lost his battle with metastatic prostate cancer on Wednesday, Oct. 3rd, 2018 in Dallas, Texas. Paul was born on Feb. 16th, 1942 on a farm southwest of Clutier, Iowa. He was raised on the family farm with his parents Milo and Irene Dvorak and siblings David and Camilla. Paul developed a strong work ethic at an early age while baling hay, working cattle and helping with the annual harvest. He enjoyed hunting and was in the local 4H club where he developed an early sense for civic duty. Paul graduated from Clutier High School in May 1960. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on Sept. 26th, 1960, and was stationed in West Germany with the 2nd Armored Division – “Hell on Wheels”. Paul achieved the rank of Specialist and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and Sharpshooter Badge. Upon completion of active duty service in September 1963, Paul returned to Iowa and began his career as a businessman. Paul completed his military service obligation as a member of the U.S. Army Reserves and was honorably discharged on August 31st, 1966. Paul settled in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he developed his skills as an entrepreneur and reliable business professional. He worked in general retail, selling tires and other products, and was quickly promoted into a position managing the entire store. This was the beginning of Paul’s successful career in the tire industry. During this time, Paul met Trudy Rae Becker, and they were married on May 6th, 1967 in Kingsley, Iowa. While living in Cedar Rapids, Paul and Trudy were blessed with their first child, Bobbette, on June 10th, 1969. In January 1970, Paul and his family moved to the Dallas area where he continued to build his reputation in the tire industry. He traveled extensively and became the top salesman in the nation for the first solid tire manufacturer in the United States. In 1973, Paul founded his own tire business, American Industrial Tire Corp, headquartered in Dallas, Texas, a business still in operation today. One year later, they welcomed their second child, Brent, born on September 22nd, 1974. Over the years Paul grew his business, establishing multiple branches in the Dallas metropolitan area as well as Houston, Texas, and Shreveport, Louisiana. He also enjoyed working in real estate. The success of Paul’s efforts are visible today, with his son Brent, and daughter Bobbette, continuing the proud tradition of industry excellence established with Paul’s perseverance for over five decades. In addition to a lifetime of business and real estate success, Paul always remembered to support others. He was a loving father, supportive husband, caring grandparent and trusted friend. Paul also never forgot about those who were less fortunate. He was always willing to consider individuals for hire, even if they had made mistakes in their own lives, because Paul strongly believed that everyone deserved a second chance. Paul was an active member of the Catholic Church and Civitan International where he volunteered in support of the mentally and physically disabled throughout the state of Texas. But doing this was not enough for Paul, as he longed to give back to the small community in Clutier, Iowa, where he was raised as a child. In 2010, Paul surprised everyone with the purchase of property in his hometown of Clutier, where he began refurbishing part of the historic main street to open up a bar and grill. In June 2011, Paul realized his dream to offer a place for all to gather and enjoy great food and the company of others with the opening of Czech Point Restaurant and Pub in Clutier, Iowa.Throughout his life, Paul very much enjoyed spending time with loved ones, especially his grandchildren. He was very proud of Aaron, who graduated from Baylor University and is now in medical school at Virginia Tech. Paul also spent lots of time with his grandchildren in Houston, Mia, Dylan, and Luke. In the final weeks of his life, his grandchildren were able to pay back the love and support they received over the years and spent many days and nights with him in the hospice facility, even bringing the family cat and dog to spend time with their adored grand dad, Papa.Paul was proceeded in death by his father, Milo Dvorak; his wife, Trudy; and grandchildren Kendall and Brayden.
