Paul Wayne Geiger's Obituary
Paul Wayne Geiger of Carrollton/Farmers Branch passed away on November 27, 2019 after complications from pneumonia. Paul had a full and glorious life of 97 years which is to be honored and celebrated!He lived his life showing love for God and his beautiful wife, MaryBeth. He was born August 9, 1922 at home in Pandora, Ohio. He was the middle son of five children and loved his small hometown. He enjoyed his football activities and many close friends there. He was one of the “greatest generation”, serving his country in the Army 202 Combat Engineers from 1943-1945 in the European theater during World War II. Paul drove trucks and transported troops and supplies, which earned him battle stars in several major battles.After his service in the Army, he married Peggy Wood in 1947, and they moved to West Virginia where they had two sons, Steve and Doug. He was a manager for the Charleston Gazette newspaper until moving to Ohio as a manager for the hospital division for ServiceMaster. After wife Peggy, of 32 years passed away, Paul moved to Texas to be with his sons.Paul met MaryBeth Crutchfield at Royal Haven Baptist Church, Farmers Branch, where they were married in May of 1981. Paul’s family grew with the addition of MaryBeth’s five grown children and their families.Paul owned a ServiceMaster franchise for many years. In addition, he was the owner of Wildwood, a gift shop in Helen, Georgia, with his son Steve. He traveled there several times a year to help maintain and grow the business.Paul was a member of First Baptist Church, Carrollton, and a very active member of the Forerunners Senior Ministry. Paul and MaryBeth were jointly awarded the Bob Asbill Service Award in 2015, honoring their service to the community and church. The Geigers took countless trips, both in the United States and overseas, including numerous mission trips to New York City. When Paul was a mere 80 years old, he traveled with TBM (Texas Baptist Men) to Thailand on a mission trip to help with the tsunami victims. Physical requirements included the ability to move 50 lbs., which Paul did with no problem!Paul is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, MaryBeth; son Doug and wife Leslie Geiger of Forney; and sister Wanita Geiger Cornwell of Arlington, Ohio. Paul’s blended family includes Margaret & Stan Luse of Highland Village; Susan & Mike Cotten of Kingsland; Joe & Jean Crutchfield of Coppell; David & Mary Crutchfield of Rockwall; Diane & Mike Schrage of Mesquite; 20 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a multitude of friends.He was predeceased by his parents, his first wife Peggy Geiger, son Steve Geiger, grandson Chris Geiger, brothers Frances Geiger and Grover Geiger, and sister Helen Geiger Neiswander.Paul will be missed by all; but, he left us with precious memories of his amazing life.In lieu of flowers, the family recommends donations to the Shriners Hospital or Gideons International.
