Paul Silus Graham's Obituary
Paul Silus Graham, age 86, a retired 40-year Praetorian Mutual Life Insurance Co. employee and World War II veteran, passed away peacefully at his Dallas home on May 22, 2009. He was born July 26, 1922 to Ella Mae and James Edley Graham in Checotah, Oklahoma and moved to Dallas in 1940. Mr. Graham enlisted into the U.S. Army October 31, 1942. He landed at Omaha Beach on June 9, 1944 where he joined the 29th Infantry Division. He was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded in action during the St. Lo approach on July 19, 1944 and recieved his honorable discharge from the military on January 19, 1945. Whenever talking about his military career he would always say, “Proudly served 2 years, 2 months, and 19 days.” He was employed by Praetorian Mutual Life Insurance Co., downtown Dallas, during which time he married his loving wife of fifty years, Hazel E. Morris. They were married on February 16, 1959 in Durant, Oklahoma and made their home in the Lake Highlands area of Dallas. He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers. He is survived by his wife, Hazel, brother and sister- in- law Ed and Nell Graham of Irving, nephews, Bob Pfeifer and Bill Weisiger, nieces, Linda Weisiger and Gina Lightfoot and extended family members. Funeral services and interment will be held at Restland Funeral Home, Dallas. Visitation will be Monday, May 25, at 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service and interment on Tuesday, May 26, at 12:30 p.m.
