Paul Raymond Watters' Obituary
Paul Raymond Watters, age 96, of Rockwall, Texas, formerly of Sturgis, Michigan passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Presbyterian Hospital, Dallas, Texas. Services will be at 9:30 AM Saturday, December 15th at Restland Funeral Home, Dallas. Visitation will be immediately prior to the service from 8:30 – 9:30 AM Saturday.Paul was born November 21, 1922 in Dubuque, Iowa to Raymond and Lucy (Straub) Watters. He graduated from the University of Dubuque where he met his first wife, Joanne (Mosby) Watters who preceded him in death on June 12, 1976. He was a WWII hero proudly serving as a Navy fighter pilot, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross for his courage and bravery. Paul was a man of strong faith and good character who maintained his fighting spirit throughout his life encouraging others to remain strong and fight through the challenges of life.Paul worked most of his career for Rheem Water Heaters retiring in 1980 shortly after meeting and marrying his second wife, Barbara (Cratin) Watters. He enjoyed tennis, golf, and socializing on his pontoon boat at Klinger Lake in southern Michigan. Paul loved spending time with his family and friends, he was extremely outgoing and literally never met a stranger.Paul was preceded in death by his eldest son, Steve and his wives, Joanne (Mosby) Watters and Barbara (Cratin) Watters. He is survived by 2 children, Jeff Watters and wife Lynn, Jennie Keith and husband Tim and 3 step-children, Bob Cratin and wife Fran, Tom Cratin and wife Chris, and Carol Cratin. He is survived by Steve’s wife Janie, his nephews Mike Scherr, Jay Watters, Scott and Terry Wright, David and Mike Cannon; nieces Teri Bailey and Penne Duncan as well as many great nieces and nephews.
