Paula J Mays was born in Chicago IL to Dorothy McConell and Ralph Laurence December 29, 1946. On December 7, 2018 in Carrollton, TX, Paula left us to go to a better place.In 2011, Paula moved to Texas to start a new life in her retirement years. Paula was a hard-working proud woman. She retired after working 30 years as a United Steelworker of America. Paula was a devote Christian. She devoted her life to the church where she gained great moral values and life long relationships. She served many years as a member of the New Friendship M.B. church community as a devoted church choir member.Paula was married to John Edward Mays on January 7, 1966 in Chicago, IL who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was her oldest Daughter Angela M Laurence, mother (Dorothy McConell), father (Ralph Laurence), sisters (Lori, Kim, Lorna, Tammy) and a brother Corwin.She leaves behind a daughter (Michele Childress), son (Gordon Bryant and Yvonne Cordell), sisters (Cynthia Peoples, Vanessa Laurence, Joyce Laurence, Nola Buford, Evelyn Berry, Tondaleyo and Freddie), brothers (Greggory Laurence, Glen Laurence and Roy Laurence), grandchildren (Marie, John-Michael, Korey, Carlton, Nick, and Jalen), and great grandchildren (Kaden, Joan, Kyrie, Audrey, Kassidy, Kyah). She also left behind a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.The visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday, December 14, 2018 at Restland Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Wildwood Chapel.
