My Dear Friend Pauline, I would like to share some precious memories of my kind & loving friend, Pauline (Bowers) Craig. I first met Pauline in 1964 when my family started attending The Church of the Nazarene in Garland where she and her family were attending shortly after I was reconciled with God. She was a real encouragement to me. She befriended me right off and we became friends that has lasted all these years. I remember her family and she had us over for cook-outs and fellowship with them sharing their Christian love. She stood by me through my husband's accidental death and afterwards. I remember how much fun we had when we were together and how much we laughed together. She and I cleaned Condo's together for a while. My Children and I moved to O'Donnell, where I had attended High School, for about 7 months in June 1968 and when we moved back she went to O'Donnell with me to pack our things so my brother and sister in law could move them back for us on a cold January day, We had to wait until she got off work to go. I had told her that my heater was acting up so we dressed warmly and carried blankets with us and laughed like teenagers all the way. We were out in the plains of West Texas nobody around us and no houses in sight at 11 :00 at night and we heard a loud air noise and Pauline says, "What was that it sounded like air blowing." I said, "Yes I think it was" so I pulled over and sure enough the tire was going flat. We got out of the car laughing so hard that Pauline sat down on the ground and then all at once she started looking around and realized we were all alone on that road and she said, "Have you ever changed a tire before" and I said, "no." and it wasn't funny any more. I said, "maybe some one will come along and help us" and she said, "if anyone comes along we are going to hide." She only had a key chain flashlight and she had to hold the button down all the time while telling me how to do it. We got it changed and had to drive about another hour to get to a station, praying all the time Lord please help us get to a station. When we did I ask the man if he could fix it and he said no it can't be fixed and any minute the other ones could go so we took out again praying that God would get us there. Pauline said to me," Ruby if I had known how bad your tires were I wouldn't have come with you" laughing all the time she was saying it. My husband had been gone about 11/2 years then and I hadn't had to worry about tires before and I didn't even know they were slick. God got us there but we had other problems. I had given the house key to the gin manager so he could show the house while I was gone. I also had the electric & the water cut off before I left but left the gas on so we would have heat. When we got ready to go to bed Pauline ask me if I had any water so she could put her false teeth in it and I said, "yes in the commode" and she said, "No thanks I will do without the water." We had another big laugh. She wrote me a letter on my 70th Birthday in 2005 and I will let her tell you what happened next… March 16,2005 Dear Ruby, Happy Birthday to you!!!!!!!! I want to thank you for the book God's Amazing Grace you gave to us. I don't know how you were able to put all that together the way you did, but it is nice.. We have had some good times together. Here are a few that I remember Do you remember the "get rich quick scheme" we had of cleaning windows in new houses? I don't know if we even made enough to pay for the ladder we bought, HaHa. I gave up long before you did. Did you ever get rich and I didn't know it? We had a fabulous and crazy trip to O'Donnell. We went out there to pack up some boxes for you to move back. We had a flat tire on the way out there. The only light we had to change the tire by was a tiny flashlight I carried in my purse. You were hoping someone would come by to help us and I was hoping they wouldn't. I was afraid they'd knock us in the head (and steal my little flashlight !!). Niether one of us had changed a flat tire before, but we managed to get it jacked up. I said we wer
