When I bought my house next door to Joe and Pearl in 1994, they welcomed me to the neighborhood with open arms. Joe told me during my first week of new home ownership, "if you ever need to borrow anything, just ask." I have to say, Joe had everything that a home owner should have. If I borrowed something from him twice, then I knew I needed it, so I bought my own; ladder, chain saw, hedge trimmer, etc. I had a lawnmower that quit working and was about to get rid of it and buy a new one. Pearl (outside watering her plants) stopped me from doing that saying Joe could fix it. He returned to it me the next day completely repaired. Joe and I used to chat at the back fix while Pearl tended to watering her plants. I am forever grateful to them both for helping me with home repairs and for being great neighbors. Joe taught me what it is to be a good neighbor! I always looked forward to them waving at me from their back porch as I would get out of my car coming home from work. Knowing Joe and Pearl helped to make my life better. I will remember them always and will miss them dearly. I'm fortunate to have know them both and to have been accepted by their family.
