Peggy Ann Alkire's Obituary
ALKIRE, PEGGY ANN THACKER BERRY died peacefully at age 82, in Dallas, Texas on Mother’s Day, May 11, 2014. Born April 26, 1932 in Mineola, Texas, to her parents Clara Maude Stanley and Morgan Robert Thacker, she attended school in Mineola, Texas. Peggy lived in Dallas, Midland, Odessa, Pittsburg and Houston, Texas; Algiers, Louisiana; London, England; Arvada, Colorado. Peggy’s professional life included a successful career sales career for the Dallas market and work in the Stock Exchange. Peggy was instrumental in her late husband, David Alkire’s career in the oil and gas business but chose to devote most of her life to being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, always putting her family first. Survivors include her sister, Vickki Aileen Thacker of Melbourne, Florida, her children, Becky Phillips, of Avinger, Texas, Clara Johnson and David Alkire of Dallas, Texas, her grand children; Brooke Phillips, Daniel Phillips, and Amy Lewis of Dallas, Texas, and Jonathan Phillips of St. George, Utah and 6 grandchildren Mays, Davis, Wright, Georgia, Kalista, and Kira. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband David Mays Alkire, her parents Morgan Robert Thacker and Clara Maude Stanley and her siblings Bobby Nell Thacker, Robert Reed Thacker, and Billie Sue Thacker. Services will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, May16, 2014 at the Restland Funeral Home, Wildwood Chapel, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243.
