Peggy Joan Cooley Ward's Obituary
Peggy Joan Cooley Ward was born on October 8, 1933 in Gainesville, Texas, and returned home on May 11, 2018. Peggy led a loving and faith-filled life, steadfast in her beliefs, and ever trusting in the grace of God. She was a beautiful person inside and out.Peggy was the loving wife of Harold Cooley for 43 years until his death in 1993. Together they had three children, Diane, Debbie, and Darin and were foster parents to 21 children. She was a loving mother and always involved in her children’s activities. She always welcomed a house full of people that she could cook for and laugh with. She never met a stranger, from the man who pumped her gasoline, to anyone she knew who didn’t have a place to go on a holiday. Everyone was welcome at her home and at her table.Peggy was a member of Waterview Church of Christ for over 50 years where she was involved in numerous church programs and activities for youth and adults, but the one she loved the most was her many years spent teaching four-year-olds in Sunday School.After being widowed for 11 years, she married Curtis Ward. They shared many happy times together and loved and cared for one another for over 14 years.Peggy was a ray of sunshine and lit up the room with her beautiful smile. She will be truly missed, but she leaves behind so many joyful memories to all who knew her.Peggy is preceded in death by her parents Hazel Baxter Shaw and Dora Orlean Shaw, her husband of 43 years Harold Gene Cooley, and their son Michael Lynn Cooley.She is survived by her husband of 14 years Curtis Ward; her children Diane Verner (Doug), Debbie Sones (Jim), and Darin Cooley (Easter); her grandchildren Taylor Casey (Peter), Austin Verner, Michael Germany, and Ryan Cooley; her great-grandchildren Jonas Casey and Rivers Casey; her sisters Doris Jones (Pete) and Barbara West, and numerous nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, from 6-8 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home , 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX.A celebration of Peggy’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 16 at 2 p.m. at Waterview Church of Christ, 1409 N. Waterview Drive, Richardson, TX 75080.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243, (972-238-7111).
