Peggy O. Dickey's Obituary
Peggy Marie O’Connor Dickey was born in West Helena, Arkansas on September 28, 1928, where she spent her childhood years. Her family later moved to Dallas, where she graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1945. She attended Texas Women’s University, and later did administrative work for many years for Trinity Universal Insurance Company, where she met her husband, Leon Dickey. She then worked for First National Bank of Dallas, National Fast Food Co., in Columbus, OH, and then retired as personnel manager for First Bank of Richardson in the late 80’s. She was a very creative seamstress, excellent cook, enjoyed her crochet group, Cosmos Book Club in Dallas, and working crossword puzzles, but mostly cherished her family, grandchildren (and great grandchildren) and friends. She loved peppermints and Hershey Caramel Kisses, and was famous for her “scrubbies”. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 48 years, Leon, and her sister, Marjorie Andrews. She will be greatly missed by her family and her friends, along with her wonderful friends and tablemates at El Dorado. She is survived by daughter Terri Dickey, from Columbus, OH, daughter & son-in-law Donna & Don Cates of Garland, daughter & son-in-law Liz & Jim German of Allen. Grandchildren, Keely Cates Morris & her husband Jason, Jason Pratt, Tyler German and his wife Courtney, and Corey Cates. Great-grandchildren Kamryn Morris, Hudson Morris, and Anson German. Peg is also survived by loved cousins, nieces and a nephew, and many other “adopted” daughters and sons through the years. Her family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Charles Levin for his patient care and to the caring staff at Methodist Richardson Medical Center for their loving attention during her final days. Visitation will be held at Restland Funeral Home Sunday, July 16, between 4 and 6 p.m. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, July 17, at 11 a.m. in the Restland Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions will be appreciated to your local SPCA or Animal Rescue or the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
