Peggy Jean Matheny Toney's Obituary
Peggy Jean Matheny Toney, age 84, of Sachse, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on December 26, 2023, surrounded by her family.
Peggy was born on May 24, 1939, in Bassfield, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her father Thomas Curtis Matheny, mother Florence Evelyn Deen Matheny, husband Orville Richard Toney, brother Thomas Hugh Matheny and son Kenneth Richard Toney. She is survived by her daughter Pamela Wade, grand-daughters Paxton and Presley Wade, grand-son Kristopher Toney (Andrea), grand-daughters Torie & Tiffanie Toney, daughter-in-law Johanna Solorzano, and great-grandchildren Elizabeth & Titus Toney, Andie & Rylie Cohen and host of other family and friends.
Peggy graduated from Columbia High School in Columbia, Mississippi. She and her husband Richard married in 1957 and moved to Texas in 1965, becoming long-time residents of Garland, Tx. Peggy went on to work with Texas Instruments for over 30 years. She was a devoted spouse and parent/grandparent, always putting her family first and cherishing every moment spent with them.
Peggy found solace and immense joy in the tender embrace of nature’s beauty through gardening. She spent countless hours putting together jigsaw puzzles and playing bingo or dominoes.
Peggy was known for her love of family and was admired by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas TX 75243 in the Abbey Chapel. Graveside service immediately following.
To Peggy, we say farewell for now, but we will never forget the light she brought into our lives. May she rest in peace, and may we continue to honor her memory by living our lives to the fullest.
