Perry Edward Martin
July 18, 1930-July 5,2022
Perry Martin was born in Van, Texas to Charlie and Loyce Martin.
He had a brother Charlie Martin Jr. and a sister Sue Martin.
He graduated Van High School and attended SMU and graduated from Lon Morris College.
Perry was in the Army during the Korean War and served as a tank driver.
After his enlistment was up he moved back to Van and met Joan (Jody) Toten.
The rest is history, they shared a love story and marriage that lasted 57 years until Jody passed away in 2008.
They had one Daughter Lou Ann Martin Vance.
Perry Worked for General Electric until he retired, then he bought into a trucking and delivery company named Turner Passon. They delivered and installed appliances across Dallas and Fort Worth. Then Perry retired for a second time, not liking retirement, he took up his last career helping Lou Ann with her dance school, Dance Arts Center, formerly Joan Martin Dance and Twirl. He kept little girls in straight lines, tied shoes, wiped away tears and otherwise acted as a kind and generous Grandpa to many little dancers.
Perry always acted as a Lighthouse on a rocky coast, leading people toward the light and to the Lord.
Services will be held at Restland Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 13.
Visitation begins at 1pm with Services following at 2:00
Followed by a brief graveside internment.
Stan Copeland Senior Pastor at Lover’s Lane United Methodist Church will officiate.
Perry’s final resting place will be at Restland Cemetery in the Garden of Reflections beside the woman he loved so much.
One of Perry’s favorite quotes was “God loves you and so do I”.
