Mr. Philip Barnett's Obituary
Mr. Philip Barnett, Sr. of Richardson, TX, passed away on Saturday January 21st, 2023, at the age of 84. Mr. Barnett was born in Dallas, TX, on October 28th, 1938. He was adopted from Hope Cottage by George Bowman Barnett and Marjorie Leigh Phillips in March of 1939. He was a graduate of Richardson High School class of 1958, Abilene Christian College, and retired from American Airlines. He faithfully attended Waterview Church of Christ and was a founding member of the Turtle Creek Chorale. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Joree Holman. Survivors include his daughter Beth Barnett Strawbridge; son Philip Dwayne Barnett, Jr.; grandsons Patrick Evans, Matthew Callahan and his wife Stacy; great grandchildren Madison and Narayan; sister-in-law Ruby Maddox; and son-in-law Roy Callahan. Phil loved life and always faced the day with a smile. He traveled often and went to many places around the world. He was an active member of the TCC from 1980 until 2020, still supporting them through his passing. He loved his daily walks, spending most mornings walking at Northpark Mall with his dear friend Michael Mesmer. He went sailing and took several cruises. His life was full of love, laughter, and fun. He was quick with a joke or his knowledge bank of what he called “infinitesimal crap and trivia.” He was a treasure and a blessing to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed. Visitation is Sunday January 29th, from 5pm-8pm at Restland Funeral Home. Flowers/plants will be accepted or donations to the Turtle Creek Chorale.
