Philip Wayne Keever's Obituary
Philip Wayne Keever of Dallas, Texas passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 2, 2015. He was born in Temple, Texas, June 21, 1934, son of Alice and Lonnie Keever. He was preceded in death by older brother, Harry Keever, and survived by younger sister, Claudia Wilson of Temple. Philip resided in Dallas and is survived by his wife of thirty years, Mary Louise Keever also of Dallas and three daughters, Tracey Keever of Houston, Larissa and husband, David Jones of Plainview, and Elizabeth Wilson of Richardson, Texas and six grandchildren, Jordan, Trenton and Chance Jones and Abigail, Clark and Jenny Belle Wilson. Philip graduated from the University of Texas Austin with a BBA and the Stanford School of Management. His forty-year career in oil and gas began in Houston at Texas Gas Corporation, later called Union Texas Petroleum and concluded with Triton Energy of Dallas. He served in a variety of senior management positions both domestic and international. In addition, he was an active member and president of Petroleum Accountants Society. His colleagues remember him as “the man to talk to.” He had a life-long love of music that he shared with family and friends. He began singing as a youth in the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Temple and was trained at the University of Texas as a belcanto tenor where he sang with the Glee Club. In Houston he formed the Valdaires, a quartet. Philip’s talent was recognized by George Beverly Shea of the Billy Graham Crusade, and he was invited to join this group. Recently he was a member of the Dallas Rotary Chorus. He was an avid supporter of KERA, American Diabetes Association, Alzheimer’s Association, and the American Lung Association. A memorial service for Philip will be held at The First United Methodist Church of Richardson, Texas where he and his wife participate in the Senior Adult Ministry. Service for Philip Keever is scheduled for Wednesday, May 6th, 2015 at 10:30 AM 503 North Central Expressway, Richardson, Texas 75080. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to one of the associations mentioned.
