Philip S. Schoeneck's Obituary
Philip S. Schoeneck passed from this life on November 14, 2018 following ongoing complications from surgery. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on September 19, 1942. A few years later the family moved to Tyler, Texas where Philip attended public schools. After graduating from Robert E Lee High School he entered TCU and pledged Kappa Sigma fraternity. He entered the Army after leaving TCU and was stationed in El Paso, Texas and finally Thule, Greenland. Following discharge Philip made his home in Dallas, Texas and worked for Southland Life Ins. Co. in the public relations department. From that position he segued into the promotional products industry and joined Dallas-based Weatherall Advertising becoming sole owner and a member of ASI for over 25 years. This proved the perfect fit for Philip as he never really met a stranger and easily made friends with his outgoing and affable personality. He was active in the Toastmasters Club as well as Little Brothers. Throughout his life he was an avid outdoors man being particularly keen on bird hunting especially waterfowl. He become involved with Ducks Unlimited and was an active volunteer in the organization for over 40 years. With his gregariousness he encouraged and was responsible for getting many people to join the organization he loved. He was a Major Donor becoming a Sponsor in Perpetuity, DUMAC Diamond Life Sponsor, and a Silver Feather Society Member. He was predeceased by his wife Claire A. Schoeneckwho passed away in 2009.A memorial service for Philip will be held at 10:00 am on December 14th at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery at 13005 Greenville Ave. to be followed by burial at the Dallas-Ft Worth Veterans Cemetery at 12:30 pm.Donations to honor Philip’s life can be made to Ducks Unlimited at www.ducks.org/memorial.
