Phillip Eugene Denny's Obituary
Phillip Eugene Denny passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 2, 2020. He was born at Offutt Air Force Base in Sarpy County, Nebraska on January 6, 1962 to Everett Ray Denny and Beverly Bernice Denny. He was their 5th and youngest child. He grew up in numerous places, including Nebraska, Arkansas, Hawaii, Florida, and Missouri.
After high school, Phillip enlisted in the United States Navy and struck Boatswain’s Mate, where he served aboard the USS Petrel (ASR-14) in Charleston, South Carolina. He was then stationed on shore duty with the Commander Naval Station Charleston before he was honorably discharged.
Phillip served in the Texas State Guard for nine years and was honorably discharged in 1999, when he transferred to the Texas Army National Guard. With the National Guard, he conducted airport security in support of Operation Noble Eagle after 9/11, and he was then ordered to active duty in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from January to December 2005. Phillip was called to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from April 2009 to June 2010. His strong desire to dedicate his life to military service had him again enlist in the Texas States Guard, which is where he served at the time of his death.
When Phillip was not off fighting for American freedom, he worked as a heavy machinery and forklift salesman. He started off working with his father, Everett Denny, at Yale Industrial Trucks, but soon moved to Texas and worked for numerous forklift companies over the years. He was an excellent salesman and had loyal clients that followed him wherever he went. He was active in the veteran community and was Commander of the Richardson VFW. He was also an active member of the American Legion in the DFW area.
Phillip met the love of his life Ruby Sanchez in Texas and they married April 28, 1990. They were together for over 30 years. He enjoyed working on his motorcycles on the weekends and then would take them out for rides. He was an avid reader and loved American history and politics. Phillip would always give his last dollar and the shirt off his back to anyone who needed help. He was the most genuine American patriot there was.
He is preceded in death by his father Everett Ray Denny, USAF (Ret). He survived by his wife, Ruby Denny of Richardson, TX; daughter, Lauren Denny of San Diego, CA; Mother, Beverly Denny of LeAnn, MO; Brother, Everett Denny of LeAnn, MO; Brother, Mark Denny, and wife, Cindi Stowell, of LeAnn, MO; Sister, Mary Denny of LeAnn, MO; Brother, Jason Denny, and wife, Claire Denny, of The Colony, TX; Niece, Melissa Sloan, and husband, Tommy Sloan, and great niece and nephew, Lily and Hayden, of Springfield, MO; Niece, Margaret Hanson, and great nephews, Christian, Colton, and Carter; Niece, Jessica Denny, and great niece Olivia of Garland, TX; niece, Victoria Denny, and great nephew and niece, Jason and Blakely, of The Colony, TX; niece, Alexandria Denny of Frisco, TX.
