Phillip Bryan Laquey
December 3, 1930 — December 7, 2023
Phillip Bryan Laquey (93) peacefully went to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 7, 2023. He was born on December 3, 1930, to Brooks and Frona Laquey in Wichita Falls, Texas. He is survived by his children: Linda Reed (Randy), Brooks Laquey (Jan), Carol Jean Lickstein (Glenn), Christy Lancaster, Cindy Zale (Barry), and Kelly Halpert (David). He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Carol Laquey, his sister, Nancy Parnell, his step-son, Bart Williams, and his grandsons, Phillip DeLaRosa, Matthew Goldstein, and Ben Zale. He was blessed with 17 grandchildren and 11 adorable great-grandchildren who all lovingly called him “Poppy.“
Phil attended Midwestern University and then joined the Navy to serve in the Pacific during the Korean War from 1951-1955. He returned from service to complete his education at Southern Methodist University, receiving a BA degree in accounting and corporate finance. From 1965-2000, he was President and Chief Operating Officer at Intercontinental Manufacturing Company. He received the Tall Texan Award for outstanding community service and was on the board of Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Garland. He was also a longtime member of Wilshire Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was a member of his beloved open bible class.
Phil was a kind and gentle man who always had a smile on his face. He enjoyed telling jokes and teasing those he loved. His love was reflected in all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.
The family would like to give a huge thank you to the wonderful nursing staff at Presbyterian Village North for the devoted care they showed him.
Memorial will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, December 18, 2023 at Wilshire Baptist Church, 4316 Abrams Road, Dallas, Texas 75214
