Phillip Eugene Prochaska's Obituary
Phillip Eugene Prochaska, age 43, unexpectedly passed away late Tuesday night, April 15th, in Lewisville, TX. He was born to Mr. Daniel Prochaska and Ms. Katherine McCoy on October 7th, 1981, in Austin Texas. He is survived by his mother, Kathy, his brother Alan, his partner, CJ, and many, many friends, all across the globe.
Phillip hated anything remotely formal or anyone making any kind of a fuss about him so an obituary is very literally the last thing he ever would have wanted. He would be much happier being remembered rolling around on the floor with his and CJ's cats: Slugger, Tofu, Bella and his beloved Sam, who went ahead of him last year to scout out all the good sunbeams. Depending on when you met Phillip, you might have shared a love for sci-fi, anime, Final Fantasy (VI was his favorite), Legend of Zelda, painting miniatures, vtubing, Enter the Gungeon, craft cocktails, or classic video games. In recent years, Phillip fostered a vibrant and loving community online where he streamed on Twitch as "lastDitch" and ran a Discord (or "Ditchcord") community, as well as bringing his loving spirit and kind words and presence to a number of other communities online.
Phillip enjoyed hookah, ate every food from every culture "Thai Spicy", and was both literally allergic to belts and figuratively allergic to pants-- until they were more holes than pants, that is. He never thought he was funny, but he had an amazing sense of comedic timing, bringing an ironic and dry, but always kind, sense of humor to every place he went.
Phillip loved foxes almost as much as his cats and his partner requests donations to a fox sanctuary https://www.saveafox.org/ in Phillip's name in lieu of flowers. There will be no formal ceremony, but people are welcome and encouraged to leave memories here. There will be a celebration of life held on his birthday this year, both because he loved hosting celebrations for his friends and his birthdays were some of the best, and also to give his online community time to plan a trip if they so desire.
Phillip will be remembered for longer than he, or any of us, ever planned and will be missed more than he could possibly have imagined.
"We walked him to the station in the rain/And we kissed him as we put him on the train/And we sang him a song of times long gone/Though we knew that we'd be seeing him again."
