Ms. Phim Ek's Obituary
Phim Ek was born April 6th, 1922, in Sire Village Takeo province, Cambodia. Daughter of Dam (mother) and Ek (father); youngest of 4 siblings. She spent her early life living and helping her family out on their farm. Therefore, she had a natural green thumb and was no stranger to hard work.
Later in life she would meet and marry her husband Sem Sung and have a family of her own. She was a phenomenal mother to 3 boys and 2 girls. Unfortunately, in 1975 her husband would pass away leaving her to care for and support their children alone. With the sudden rise of the Khmer Rouge Regime, she and her 4 children fled to a refugee camp in Thailand with one son remaining in Cambodia, due to having to serve as a soldier, which she would later in life reconnect with.
On August 25th, 1983, she and her 4 children arrived in the U.S. in search of a new life and home which they found in Dallas, TX. Where she continued to raise and support her children alongside becoming a valued member of the Cambodian Buddhist Temple. She soon became an amazing grandmother to 21 grandkids and a great-grandmother to 29 great-grandkids. She enjoyed living her life with her family which was filled with laughter and joy. Sadly, on Thursday, August 17th, 2023, she passed away at home peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. She will always be loved and missed greatly leaving behind cherished memories and strong values amongst her loved ones.
