Phyllis Kaye Maxey-Norris' Obituary
Phyllis Kaye Maxey Norris 70 of Garland Texas passed away peacefully on September 13, 2024. Phyllis was such a bright light who had an energizing character. She was born to Dewey Charles Johnson and Juanita Graham Johnson from Vernon, Texas. She was silly and spunky, yet elegant and chic. Being a 4th generation native Texan, she had a classy Texas flare that made her a true Southern Bell. She was as girly as it gets with her favorite color being PINK and always looking beautiful and all done up....
As a child she attended Grace Lutheran Private School in Oak Cliff. She enjoyed reading books and learning about deep spiritual things, and she studied at the Unity School of Christianity.
46 years ago, Phyllis met Larry who was an Air Borne Ranger in Viet Nam in the early 70's. Their first fur baby was a poodle named Nikki, who loved Larry and that sealed the deal! Phyllis and Larry got married in 1978 at the Unity Church. Her loves of her life on this earth have been Larry and her fur babies. Throughout their marriage, she was a mother to their many beloved fur babies. Phyllis worked in IT at Texas Instruments for 33 years and retired in 2009. She loved laughing!
Her good friend Julie described her as loving, funny and kind with a heart especially for animals. These past few years she was like a mother to Julie. They shared many deep and special conversations, lots of laughs and bonded just as a mother and daughter would. Julie said, "Phyllis would listen, share stories and give advice. She was one of her few good friends and a mentor, and she will be missed more than can be expressed."
Phyllis was preceded in death by her mother and father. Dewey Charles Johnson and Juanita B Graham
Phyllis is survived by her husband Larry Dean Norris.
Phyllis had a passion for her animals and her loving husband
