Ping Jung Chan's Obituary
Ping Jung Chan (neeTuey Ping Jung), age 91, of Garland, Tx, passed peacefully in her sleep on Nov 22, 2019. She was in hospice care.Ping was born December 1, 1927 in Sha Kang of Hai Ping District in Canton, China (now “Guangzhou”). Ping and her devoted husband Sang Chan were married for 64 years.Sang Chan and Ping met and married on July 21, 1946 when he was last stationed in Shanghai, China with the U.S. Army Air Force at the end of the World War II.As a young bride, Ping immigrated to the U.S. in August, 1946 and later also became a naturalized US citizen. She and Sang first resided in Detroit, Mi and then in Troy Mi. After Sang’s retirement, they moved to Garland Tx where they remained for the rest of their lives.Ping was a full time homemaker. She loved managing the home, sewing beautiful clothing, making dim sum, and investing in stocks. Her passion was her Chinese vegetable garden every place she lived. She and Sang also enjoyed traveling within the U.S. visiting friends.Ping was preceded in death by her husband, Sang Chan and daughter Pauline Lew.She is survived by her sister Lai Ping Hoo and her husband Lai Shih and family.Also surviving are her eldest son, Stephen Chan and his wife May Jean of Grosse Point, Mi; oldest daughter Bonnie Dangel of Arlington, Tx; youngest son Lawrence Chan and his wife Connie of Plano TX; Son-in Law, Monty Lew, of Fullerton, California; grandsons Andrew Chan of Royal Oak, MI, Dylan Chan of Fort Worth, Tx; Stephen Chan Jr, of Troy, Mi. and Eric Chan of NYC, NY_and granddaughters Stephanie Lew of Washington DC. and Blaine Dangel of NYC, NY; Meredith Krishnasamy of Toronto, Canada, Jeanine Elefano of Los Angeles, CA.And great-grandchildren, Allegra, and Ophelia of Troy MI., Abigail and Elizabeth of Toronto, Canada, Elijah and Gabriel of Los Angeles, CA and Felicity of New York, New York.Visitation for Ping Jung Chan will be held Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 3:00 PM in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home located at 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75243.In Lieu of Flowers be donated to American Heart Association, Brain & Behavioral Resource Foundation.
