Mr. Charles P. Lloyd's Obituary
Charles Paul Lloyd passed away peacefully on September 21, 2016 in Dallas, TX. He had attained the age of 94, blessed with good health nearly all of those years. Charles was a lifelong resident of Salem Co, NJ until he and his wife, Ruth relocated to Dallas in 1998 to join their daughter and son-in-law. Charles grew up in Penn’s Grove, NJ, the son of Alice and Samuel Lloyd. After graduating, he was accepted into the USN Aviator Program. He became an Admiral’s Pilot during WWII, achieving his Lt. Commission. His worldwide military travels and experiences were a great source of pride for both Charles and his family. When Charles returned from his Naval assignment in Italy, he joined his friends and family at the DuPont Chambers Works facility, enrolling in the welding apprentice program. Shortly afterwards, he married his hometown sweetheart, Stella Ruth Mathis. Charles worked for DuPont for nearly 40 years, retiring in 1983 as a scheduling supervisor—an achievement only to be topped by his 53 year wedding anniversary to Ruth. Charles will be forever missed by his daughter, Marsha Lloyd Rapuano and her husband Michael Reid Rapuano who live in Dallas but were former residents of Newtown, PA. In 2002 Charles was predeceased by his loyal and beautiful wife, Ruth. He was also predeceased by his 3 siblings– Edna Lippincott of Salem, NJ; Norman Lloyd of Newtown Sq, PA and Del Lloyd of Penn’s Grove, NJ— all beloved in thought and memory. Charles’s passing will also be greatly felt by his longtime friend, Betty Toews of Carrollton, TX. Charles will be interred with a graveside service and military honors at the Field of Honor located at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, TX on Monday, September 26, 2016 at 11:00 am.
