Queen Esther Hatch's Obituary
HATCH, QUEEN ESTHER was born November 24, 1927 in Comer, Alabama to Lee and Ethel Smith. She graduated from Lewis Adams in Tuskegee, Alabama. She married John W. King, Sr. in 1946. They resided in Dallas, Texas. Queen attended Nursing School and later became a Nurse at Baylor Hospital from 1955 to 1985. In 1963, she married Richard Hatch. He preceded her in death. She united with Bethany Missionary Baptist Church in the early 60’s and was a faithful member. Queen was very active in her Sunday School Class. From 1986 to 1990 she worked at Traymore Nursing Home as a Medication Nurse. Queen’s life journey came to an end on February 2, 2014. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Ethel Smith; her grandson, John W. King III; sister, Liz Rogan, and brother, Lee Andrew Smith Jr. Queen leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Dorothy Garth (Malvin), John King, Jr. (Johnnie), Toyce Parish/ Ronald Claxton, and Robert King (Terri); nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Askew and Marynell Carter; God-daughters, Brenda Oliver and Dorothy Nesbitt. A wake will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, February 7, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Bethany Missionary Baptist Church.
