Quincy Sheldon Roan's Obituary
After a six month battle with cancer, Quincy Sheldon Roan died on January, 25 in Plano at the age of 37. He leaves behind his wife, Mnikari (Kari) Roan; his son, Kaleb Roan (age 9); his daughter, Khloe Roan (age 7); his father and step-mom, Oscar and Gwen Roan; and brother Mario Roan. Quincy was born on December 27, 1977 in Dallas, TX, to father Oscar Roan and mother Linda Roan, who predeceased him. He grew up in a loving family that traveled together sharing the redemptive love of the Lord. In college at DBU, he excelled in his music studies and was able to continue traveling to share his gifts. Quincy married childhood sweetheart Kari Roan on October 4, 2002. The couple lived throughout the DFW area where they began to raise their two children. They have been residents of Prosper, TX for two years and have received an unbelievable outpouring of love and support from this community. Quincy was a loving, faithful husband and father who will be missed dearly. In his work life, he served as a music pastor in several churches throughout his career, the longest time being at Point View Church in Combine. In his job, he wrote and produced many songs, directed stage-plays, led a host of vocal and instrumental ensembles, and encouraged the musical ambitions of many. Quincy had a passion for music and its ability to poignantly make the Savior’s love tangible. When diagnosed with colon cancer in July of 2014, he remained dedicated in his work and in his will to fight his illness as long as he could so that he’d be available to his kids. He remained a courageous fighter, even throughout his final months. Services will be held on Saturday, January 31st at 1:00 PM at Sunnyvale Baptist Church. Quincy will be interred at Restland Cemetery in Dallas. A viewing will be held on Friday, January 30th at Restland from 6:00-8:00PM. The family would especially like to thank friends, family, the Prosper community and all who have rallied around them and their children during this long journey. The family would also like to thank the surgeons, staff, and oncology nurses at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano and Texas Oncology for their excellent work, loving care, and constant, attentive treatment; the Restland family for making the arrangements; and the Reaves family, owners of Smokey John’s for handling the
