R. L. Hopson's Obituary
R. L. “Hoppy” Hopson was born July 30, 1915 in Coryell County, Texas and died peacefully April 19th, at his home in Flower Mound. Hoppy grew up in Meridian, Texas, and graduated high school in 1932. He was employed by Recordak Corporation (Kodak) in Dallas In 1941, and remained there until his retirement as District Distribution Mgr. in 1975. His tenure was interrupted by three years in the u.s. Navy during WWII, setting up and operating Navy V-Mail stations in Algeria and Naples. He was later stationed in the Pacific, and ended his service as Photo-Mate, First Class, with a Navy fighter squadron. During Hoppy’s long residence in Dallas, he was a member of Lovers Lane Methodist Church, the Inwood Lion’s Club, and the Dallas Christian Layman’s Group. After retirement, he moved to Flower Mound, where he served on and chaired the Planning and Zoning Board. Hoppy was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol, his parents, his six brothers and four sisters. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; daughters, Rene and Andrea, and sons, John and Marlon. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren, and his nieces and nephews. The visitation for R. L. Hopson will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday, April 22, 2015 and Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Restland Funeral Home. The funeral service for R. L. Hopson will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 11:00 AM in The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home on Greenville Ave, Dallas. Interment to follow. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
