R. Paul Nelson was born February 12, 1926 in Pelican, Louisiana to father Robert Tapley Nelson and mother Lilla Bell (Carroll) Nelson. He went to be with our Lord on February 14, 2020. Paul was 94.
Paul, the youngest of five brothers and two sisters, grew up on a subsistence farm with no indoor plumbing, gas or electricity, but he was destined for greater things. Using his GI Bill, Paul attended and graduated from Frank Phillips Jr. College. He then transferred to North Texas State College where he graduated in 1953 with honors at the top of his class with a degree in accounting. Paul went on to become a Senior Partner with Peat, Marwick & Mitchell, the largest accounting firm in the world at that time.
Paul was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Carolyn Wright of Dallas, a son, Al Nelson of Euless, and daughter, Paula Nelson of Dallas, three grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
"Now that my time is all gone, I feel as if I've come to the end of my song. I think of all the pleasures in life that I've had, I remember all the good times and forget the bad." Al Nelson
