Dear Catherine and family, I am so sad to hear of your father's passing. I was out of town and could not attend the memorial. Judge Nicholson was a truly fine man and a compassionate, hard working and fair judge. He will be greatly missed. My prayers are with you.
Linda, Monica and Cathy, I was truly saddened to hear of Lewis' passing this past Sunday. I have such fond memories of visiting your home and dinners out while we were still living in the Lake Highlands Area. I know that when I left the area, I was losing contact with wonderful friends. I shall pray for you and your family during this difficult time and ask Our Heavenly Father to comfort you and hold you closely to His heart. Affectionately known to many of us Coordinators as "Judge Poppy." Judge Nicholson had a wonderful sense of humor, a great heart and was loved by many. The first time I met him, he scared me. After I got to know him, he was a great big teddy bear. He will be missed by many.

Judge Nicholson, Words can barely expressed the dismay that I felt when I learned that you were lost to us. I have always felt your concern for the law and the parties that appeared before you, struggling to make sense of the difficulties they faced. I knew when I appeared in your court you would afford all an opportunity to be heard, and you gave so generously of your time in the process. Your family's loss must be painful, but I believe firmly they should take comfort in the knowledge that you rendered good and faithful service to the citizens of Dallas and to the law, and that you now shall take your rest, secure in the comfort and presence of the most Loving Judge of all. May you rest in peace.
What a loss. What a huge new empty place he leaves. Not just a good man – a VERY good man, with dedication, intelligence, judgment, compassion, and humor. He will be missed, for a long time forward.

Judge Nicholson, your presence, guidance and humor will be greatly missed and always remembered. I couldn't think of a time during my 28 years of practice you weren't The Judge-and now I know that's because you served during my ENTIRE career! What a Judge! What a good guy! You will be missed for LOTS of reasons!!
