Rachel Monteene Tanner's Obituary
Rachel Monteene (Slaughter) Knighten Tanner of Fayetteville, Arkansas passed away on June 5, 2019. She was 87 years old and was born in El Dorado, Arkansas to Elzie and Eva (Adams) Slaughter on December 27, 1931. She is preceded in death by husbands Jack Knighten, Charles Tanner, and her mother, father, and three brothers – Byron Slaughter, Jay Slaughter, and Ray Slaughter. She is survived by daughter Becky Renshaw of McKinney, TX, Chris Knighten and wife, Jann, of Fayetteville, AR, grandson Rane Renshaw of Las Vegas, NV, and granddaughter Chandler Renshaw of Lubbock, TX, and sister Glenna Wynne of El Dorado, AR and sister-in-law Lou Slaughter of Camden, AR. Monteene lived a life of devotion to her Christian faith and loved music and the arts. She sang in a gospel trio, composed and published hymns, taught piano lessons, and served the Lord as a church pianist and organist for more fifty years in the church. Funeral Service will be Monday, June 10, 2019 at Restland Funeral Home, Wildwood Chapel at 10:00 a.m.. Visitation will be Sunday, June 9, 2019 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home. Burial will follow funeral service at Restland Memorial Park, Valley View Garden.
