Rade Milovanovic's Obituary
Rade Milovanovic, an esteemed International Chess Master, passed away on February 3, 2024. Born in Serbia, Rade’s passion for The Game of Kings began in his teenage years and propelled him to great heights in his illustrious career. Rade’s journey as a chess player was nothing short of remarkable. With unwavering dedication and an insatiable thirst for knowledge, he honed his skills and quickly rose through the ranks. Rade’s strategic brilliance and unparalleled focus earned him the coveted title of International Chess Master, solidifying his place among the elite in the chess community.
Throughout his career, Rade participated in numerous chess tournaments across the globe, showcasing his extraordinary talent and leaving an indelible mark on the chess world. Rade’s achievements were numerous and included a silver team medal in Chess Olympiad in 1994. He was also hailed as the Texas Chess Champion of 1999 and co-champion of the U.S. Open in 2008. These accolades were testament to his strategic brilliance, patience and competitive spirit.
Rade was a humble and compassionate individual, with gentle demeanor and eagerness to share his knowledge and expertise with others. As a Chess Coach for the University of Texas at Dallas, he dedicated his time and expertise to shaping the minds of future chess champions, leaving a lasting impression on the next generation of players. During his time there, the University won 10 Pan-American Team Championships.
Beyond his achievements on the chessboard, Rade was also an accomplished scholar. He graduated from the University of Belgrade Faculty of Law, and served as a lawyer and, consequently, a judge in Tuzla, Bosnia & Herzegovina.
Rade is survived by his loving family, including his daughter Kristina Milovanovic Khan, son-in-law Omar Khan, and grandchildren Emilia and Nicholas. He is also survived by his brothers Milan, Dragan, and Ljubo Milovanovic.
Rade is preceded in death by his beloved wife Snjezana and daughter Marina. May they find solace in each other’s embrace once again.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, 10 A.M. at the Restland Wildwood Chapel in Dallas, Texas.
