Ralph Gordon Healy's Obituary
Ralph entered The Church Triumphant August 26, 2011. Born June 6, 1928, at home on the farm in Sugar Grove, Illinois, Ralph was the youngest of four sons of Arthur Newton and Alice Snow Healy. He grew up on a large cattle and grain farm. The labors of his youth provided his college education at both Northwestern University and the University of Illinois. It was at Illinois that he met his wife of 60 years, Anne Rockwell. Following graduation he was employed by International Harvester in their Minneapolis, Minnesota offices. Ralph and Anne were married September 16, 1950, and shortly thereafter Ralph was called to service by Uncle Sam. He served most of his time at Camp Rucker, Alabama, and following discharge from the Army, went to work as a Field Engineer for Barber-Greene Company in Aurora, Illinois. After six years in their home office he was sent to Dallas, Texas, where he served as Area Manager. Career changes included employment with South Texas Equipment Company in Houston, Texas, and Romco Equipment Company in Dallas, from which he retired in 1999. Ralph was highly regarded for his expertise in highway construction, especially for his knowledge in asphalt plants and paving. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church Richardson, an ordained elder and where he enjoyed working with his fellow retirees, The Sometimers. He treasured times fishing with friends and his son-in-law Mike and grandson Jake. But his biggest passion was golf, which he experienced often, both playing and marshalling at Sherrill Park. Ralph is pre-deceased by his parents and his brothers Claude and Bill. He is survived by his wife Anne; son Stephen and wife Nancy; daughter Jill and husband Mike Matney; daughter Jane and husband Allen Grondin; granddaughter Jennifer and Manny Sandidge, great- grandsons Luke and Levi, and great-granddaughter Layne; grandson Jason and Lori Healy, great-grandson Jordan and great granddaughter Jenna; grandson Jacob & Jennifer Matney, great grandson Jacob II; granddaughter Jordan Matney; grandsons Josh and Matt Grondin; and his brother Byron Healy. Following a private burial, a Celebration of Life Service for Ralph will be held at 11:00 AM, August 30, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church, 271 North Walton Street, Richardson, Texas. If desired, memorials may be sent to the church.
