Ralph Emerson Norsworthy's Obituary
Born May 6, 1920 in Waco, TX, died November 22, 2008 in Dallas, TX, after a long term battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Mr. Norsworthy served in the Army Air Corps in WWII as a fighter pilot in the European Theater. On January 7, 1944 he was downed and wounded in action over Yugoslavia and captured. He was a POW until his release in January 1945. He retired after the war as a Captain in 1947 and returned to Texas, residing in Dallas. He worked in sales, as a civilian pilot and instructor and eventually as a commercial realtor and appraisor in Dallas for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dallas. He was preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Ora Norsworthy, brother Harrell Norsworthy, and sister, Luna Chiles. He is survived by his wife, Mary Norsworthy of Dallas; son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren, Ken, Rebecca, Andrew and Sarah Norsworthy; and daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter, Nancy, Jurgen and Christina Volker. Visitation: 10:30AM Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at Restland Abbey Chapel. Service will follow at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 4144 N. Central Expwy., Suite 750, Dallas, TX 75204.
