Ralph Galen Rich's Obituary
Ralph Galen Rich, better known as Galen Rich, age 84, died on Thursday, July 6, 2017 in the Willowbend Nursing & Rehabilitation Center; a caring community nursing home. He was born in Greenford (Salem), Ohio to Marion & Zora (Hendricks) Rich and was an only child. Mr. Rich was a natural vocal performer when he began his love of singing at the age of 13, at this time he learned to adjust his vocals to an interesting low baritone. His voice and his singing voice were always warm and heartfelt when heard by many. From there he went to exercise his talent at a national level while he was in junior high & high school. After graduating from Salem high school & attending some college, Mr. Rich went on to bravely serve our American Army in June of 1954. He received an honorable discharge May of 1962, where he then marched on to become a very hard working entrepreneur by starting a janitorial cleaning service with supporting staff. Through many connections, he was able to network and obtain cleaning contracts with a few major company corporations such as Zales Jewelers in Los Colinas, TX. He also became head of security for the Dallas Art Museum in Texas from 2001 to 2005. Galen was preceded in death by his parents. He married Lola F. Rich on May 10, 1996, and she survives. Also, surviving are daughters: Adina R. Cook, KY; Michelle A. White, TX; & Charlene Ehoro, TX; Debbie Hadnot, TX; son Darian K. Rich, Canada. Galen will be remembered as a kind, loving and inspirational father. He is a bright shining light to all of his family, friends, and anyone who’s met him. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Sunday, July 9, 2017, at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 am, Monday, July 10, 2017, at the Restland Abbey Chapel. The Rich & Ehoro family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff at the Willowbend Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center for their attentiveness and care. Also, to the Restland Funeral home for their kindness and graciousness to our family.
