Ray D. Jones' Obituary
A Promise Kept A loving son kept a promise he made to his Father and Mother, “to take care of the family.” He was a brother, a husband, a father, an uncle and a friend. Ray Dalton Jones Ray Dalton Jones was the son of Artis and Doretha Jones. He was born in Elmo, TX (Kaufman County) on July 31, 1932. Mr. Jones was one of 8 children (5 boys and 3 girls). He attended Booker T. Washington High School in Elmo, TX. On November 14, 1952, Mr. Jones enlisted into the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He received an honorable discharge on March 26, 1956. He married Emma J. Terrell and to this union, their one and only daughter was born, Andrea Michelle Jones, whom he affectionately called, “Peaches.” On March 27, 1958, Mr. Jones married the love of his life, Bessie M. Mack. They were married 41 years until The Lord called her home. Mr. Jones was employed by the City of Dallas Park & Recreation department. He retired with a little over 19 years, as a supervisor. He was a collector of “art” but some may say otherwise and he loved the lake! He was a hard worker, a provider to his family and a man who took care of business and who took pride in who he was. “I Am who I Am and what I Am” Preceding him in death; his wife of 41 years, Mrs. Bessie M Jones; father and mother, Artis and Doretha Jones; four brothers, James, Adolphus, Artis Jr and Nathaniel Jones; and one sister, Dorothy Mae McGriff. He leaves to cherish and honor his memories; a faithful and loving daughter, Andrea M. Jones; his pride, joy and namesake, “Boss-Man”, Tramel Dalton Jones; two sisters, Gladys C Grant and Betty Lois Jones; adopted son, Michael Brightman; special nieces, Wanda Faye Howell and Tounia Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, July 31, 2015 iat Restland Memorial Chapel. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243 at Restland Road.
