Rayburn Lenton Kent's Obituary
KENT, RAYBURN was born on June 4, 1925 in Dallas, Texas and lived all his life in Dallas. He married his girlfriend and sweetheart, Betty on his birthday in 1950. They were married for 45 years. If you knew Rayburn, then you know that he was a dedicated, diligent worker and family man. He spent 44 years of his life working as a head custodian for the Dallas Independent School District. He enlisted in the Navy to search for his brother, Logan who was a POW. He served in the US Navy as a Gunners Third Mate beginning in December 1944 and received the Victory Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the Atlantic-Pacific Campaign Medal, Navy Good Conduct, and the Philippine Liberation Campaign Ribbon. He loved the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys and if the game was on you could rest assured he was watching. He enjoyed golfing with family at West Tawakoni Golf Course. He is preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey Loyd and Ethel Gliseen; his wife of 45 years Betty; his brothers, Lloyd, Jake, Logan, and Jim; his sisters, Merle, Alphafretta and Vera. He is survived by his brother, Kenneth and sister, Myron Jean; his children, Danny Sr., Paula, Randy, Pam, and Ronnie; his grandchildren, Danny Jr., Wendy, Pamela, Tammy, Lacy, Gary Jr., Stormie, Crystal, Sheron, Bethany, Rodny, Jacob, and Jarrett; his 23 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Restland Memorial Chapel.
