Rayma Jean Gurley's Obituary
Rayma Jean Gurley passed away peacefully January 12, 2018 at the age of 92 in Dallas, Texas.Born November 26, 1925 in Fort Smith, Arkansas, Rayma came to be revered as an accomplished vocalist and accordionist in her youth. Her talents and position of local prominence soon caught the eye of her husband and love of her life, Richard LeeRoy Gurley. They married on April 27, 1946. Together, they traveled throughout the great Midwest with their children before settling in Dallas, Texas where they would live the rest of their lives. An avid reader, Rayma would frequently spend her time studying works of romance and historical fiction. The matriarch of a close family, she taught us all the importance of loving and supporting one another without condition. Rayma led a rich, full life surrounded by the family who adored her.Rayma was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, who she has finally joined in Heaven with great joy and elation. She is survived by her daughter Beth and husband Roger, daughter Nancy, son George and wife Ruth; grandchildren Teri and husband David, Darryl, Tracie and husband Kris, John and wife Lauren, Gina and husband Jason, Erik and wife Lisa, and Jared; and great-grandchildren Megan, Jenna, Domanic, Aubrey, Lorelai, Jack, June, Sam, Luke, Cailyn, Ahnika, and Zoe.A memorial service to celebrate Rayma’s life will be held on January 17th at 12:30 pm at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
