Raymond Martinez Arredondo Jr.'s Obituary
ARREDONDO, JR., RAYMOND MARTINEZ Courageous, kind, patient, generous, and loving, these words inadequate as they are describe one of the most remarkable men belonging to the greatest of generations. Raymond M. Arredondo was born in Corsicana, TX to Raymond Arredondo, Sr. and Luz Martinez Arredondo on October 14, 1922. His parents; sisters, Elpedia Marquez, Epemenia Granado, Rita Arredondo; and brothers, Anastacio and Candelario all gathered to welcome him at Heaven’s Gates. He entered military service on February 11, 1943. He served in World War II by driving a military ambulance with the 499th Medical Collecting Company in northern France, central Europe, Rhineland and Normandy. Upon returning home, he followed his chosen trade as a butcher, where he met his lovely wife, Juanita Castaneda. They married on October 19, 1947 and just celebrated their 65th anniversary. Together they shared their love of God, each other, family, country, and grew to become the patriarch and matriarch of their family. While the world is a poorer place for our loss, today Heaven is richer for it’s gain. He is survived by his wife, Juanita; daughter, Anita Davila; son-in-law, Jesse Davila; grandson, Raymond Davila; granddaughter, Elizabeth Castaneda; grand sons-in-law, Patrick West, Daniel Talbot, and Roland Castaneda; great grandchildren, Jason Davila, Alycia Davila, Christopher West, Patricia West, and Isabella Talbot; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. The family would like to offer special thanks to Dr. Kevin Longshaw for many years of compassionate care. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00pm, Monday, June 3, 2013 at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas. A Celebration of Raymond’s life will be held at 10:00am, Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Covenant Church, 2644 E. Trinity Mills Rd. in Carrollton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
