Raymond Wayne Clemens' Obituary
Raymond Wayne Clemens, 90, of Dallas Texas, born February 15, 1933 to F.A. “Clem” Clemens and Elizabeth “Bessie” Clemens, passed away on Monday June 5th, 2023. He was married on March 24, 1951 in Dallas to the love of his life, Jean. They were high school sweethearts where she was a majorette, and he was a member of the marching band. They had been married for 72 years and were inseparable. Dad and Mom loved to travel. They took many trips to Europe and cruises in the Caribbean, but they loved Hawaii the best. They were members at Canyon Creek Country Club where they had many friends and loved to play tennis and golf. They especially enjoyed their lake house at Cedar Creek Lake. Dad loved it the most when the whole family was there playing in the water or riding around in the boat. He could spend hours watching his grandson Jaden fish and was always handy when a big one was caught. He loved nothing better than spending time with Jaden, his pride and joy, and never missed a game Jaden played in. He enjoyed his time traveling to Aspen spending time with his daughter and son-n-law Vicki and Steve at their home in Snowmass. One time when we were all there, we had the longest horseback ride up the mountain to Maroon Bells. I don’t think any of us could walk for a week after that.
Dad enlisted in the Navy when he was 17 and served on the USS Floyd B. Parks in the Korean War. His rank was a RD3 which is a Radarman 3rd class. He loved everything about the military and being a patriot. In his later years, he volunteered for the USO at DFW airport. He loved greeting, visiting with, and helping the soldiers who were either on their way home or going overseas to an assignment.
Wayne is survived by his wife Jean, his children Vicki Kanaly and Guy Clemens, daughter-in-law Dena Mathis, grandchildren, Jaden Clemens, Kourtney Little, and Kamden Kanaly, niece Pam Lackey, and nephews Mark, Dean and Evan Clemens. Bothers-and sisters-in-law, Rita and Carl Brown and Annette Woodruff, and nieces and nephews and their spouses, Doug Woodruff and Dominique Bartoughian, Tim and Amber Woodruff, Brandon and Jennifer Brown, and Karla and Steven Arranda and a host of grand nieces and nephews.
Honor services will be held at the DFW National Cemetery on Wednesday June 14th at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the USO at https://www.uso.org/
