Raymond Alexander (Dan) Haddock's Obituary
Raymond Alexander (Dan) Haddock, Jr., died at age 87 on September 22, 2017 in McKinney, Texas, after a long bout of pneumonia. He was born in 1930, in Seward, Nebraska, and raised in Oklahoma and Kansas. He was the third oldest child in a family with 16 children. He attended four different elementary schools and two different high schools as his father followed work in the oil fields of Oklahoma and Kansas in the 1930’s and 1940’s. He graduated from Hominy, OK, High School in 1948 and received a BS in Engineering Physics in 1952 from Tulsa University, where he was a member of the freshman honorary society Phi Eta Sigma and the junior/senior honorary society Phi Gamma Kappa. He received an MS in Engineering (Electrical) from Southern Methodist University in 1967. He served in the U.S. Navy as an electronics technician aboard the destroyer USS Uhlmann, receiving campaign ribbons for two different cruises on the Formosa Patrol between Taiwan and China in the South China Sea. He worked as a field engineer for several years in South Texas and Oklahoma for Schlumberger Well Surveying Corp., and in 1958, he joined Texas Instruments, where he worked as an electronics design engineer for 33 years, retiring in 1991. In 1986, he was elected a Member of Group Technical Staff at Texas Instruments Defense Systems and Electronics Group. He worked for 20 years on one project, the U.S. Navy Harpoon missile, designing and upgrading electronic circuits, especially radio-frequency circuits, for the missile’s radar seeker.He and Elsie were married in 1958 in Denton, TX. They were blessed with four children, and lived in Dallas for 40 years before moving to McKinney in 1998. He was active in Cub Scouts and youth soccer in Dallas.He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Gladys Haddock; a son Michael Haddock; two sisters Doris Howard and Betty Doll; and three brothers Perry Haddock, Floyd Haddock and Phillip Haddock; and sister-in-law Gayla Haddock; and brother-in-law Glen Howard. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elsie Haddock; two daughters and their husbands, Tammy and Miguel Rodriguez of McKinney, and Kathie and Pat McKinley of San Diego, CA; a son Randall Haddock of Justin; six grandchildren, James and Amy McKinley of San Diego, CA, and Amanda, Michelle, Luke, and Wesley Rodriguez of McKinney; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Janie and Dave Miller of Tulsa, OK, Judy and Darrell Sampson of Coweta, OK, Peggy and Ken West of Tulsa, OK, and Rhonda and Roy Sagel of Claremore, OK; six brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Jeanne Haddock of Kellyville, OK, Paul and Naomi Haddock of Broken Arrow, OK, Charles Haddock of Tulsa, OK, Larry and Cherrin Haddock of Claremore, OK, Dennis and Bobbie Haddock of Broken Arrow, OK, Ronnie Haddock of Kellyville, OK; sisters-in-law Velma Haddock of Mobile, AL, Vickie Haddock of Broken Arrow, OK, Modean Haddock of Paul’s Valley, OK; brother-in-law Kenneth Doll of Verdigris, OK, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.Visitation will be at noon on Wednesday September 27th, 2017 at Restland Abbey Chapel in Dallas, TX. Services will be held at 1pm, immediately following the visitation at Restland Abbey Chapel. Dan will be buried next to his beloved son Mike at Restland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
