Dan's wife Elsie used to babysit kids after school. I was one of those kids and my sister and I spent many afternoons and some nights with the Haddock family.
Dan and I would bet on the outcome of the Dallas Cowboy games. I would take the Cowboys and Dan took their opponents. We are talking the late 60's, now. If the Cowboys won, I would get a Pepsi. If the Cowboys lost, I would shine Dan's shoes. I shined his shoes more times than I care to remember.
I remember Dan's wry grin and dry sense of humor. He loved to needle me about getting those shoes shinin'.
Although I write this in 2025, my love goes out to Elsie and their kids, Tammy, Kathie, Randy, and of course fond memories of Michael.
