Raymond Dotson's Obituary
Raymond Dotson was born on September 7, 1926 in Ravia, Oklahoma to William Lambert and Sarah Viola (Waits) Dotson. He departed this life on Thursday, February 19, 2015 in Mesquite, Texas. Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie, his parents, three brothers – Charles, JE and Roy Dotson and three sisters – Charles Gilbert, Nellie and Billie Dotson. He is survived by Sharen Shuemaker, husband Eugene of Rockwall, Texas, Tometta Jeffers, husband Ray of Lubbock, Texas, Benny Dotson, of Avery, Texas, Shirley Dotson and friend Gary Skinner of Deleon, Texas, Neil Dotson, of Garland, Texas, Keith Dotson, of Garland, Texas, eight grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, sister Leola Thomas of Mesquite, Texas and brother Royce Dotson of Garland, Texas. Raymond married his pen pal Nellie McSpadden on 11/28/1952. He served in the United States Air Force. He retired from St Joe Paper Company with 25 years of service. He served as Boy Scout leader for Troop 61 in Garland, Texas, received his high school diploma from Paris High School in 2001 as part of the Texas Education Code, §28.0251. He loved working on cars, lawn mowers and tinkering with anything that needed fixing. He loved working on his train set and showing it off to everyone. He enjoyed traveling and loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Lung Association. Pall Bearers: David Dotson Jordan Dotson Steven Dotson Michael Jeffers Ray Jeffers John Mullican Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, February 21, 2015 in The Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home with visitation 1 hour prior.
