Raymond Ellis' Obituary
Raymond Ellis, Born May 29, 1940, in Cleveland, OH. Ray passed away Jan. 30, 2010. He is survived by wife Deanie; daughter April and son Bob; sister and brother-in-law Kathy and Jerry Akers of Austin; and many friends. Ray graduated from UT Austin with a B.A. in math. He excelled at doing math problems in his head and earned the nickname “Rain Man” for his amazing skills. He married Laurel “Deanie” Scruggs on Nov. 5, 1966, in her hometown of Edna, TX. Ray and Deanie enjoyed traveling around the world; some of the countries they visited included England, France, Australia, Denmark, Italy and Egypt. Ray worked for Rockwell Collins as a software engineer for 27 years. He loved reading newspapers and magazines as well as mystery and horror novels. His other hobbies included watching movies, investing in the stock market and playing bridge. He was an avid bowler in his younger years. He enjoyed the music of Roy Orbison, Cat Stevens and ABBA and appreciated fine art and good barbecue. Ray loved animals and felt a special bond with cats and dogs. Dadster, we will miss you so much! Memorial Service Friday, Feb. 12, at 3 p.m. in Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
