Raymond L. Hardin's Obituary
HARDIN, RAYMOND L. Age 67, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 21st, 2011. Ray was born in Tyler, Texas on January 13, 1944. He was the son of C.B. and Dot Hardin of Tyler. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brothers Benton Hardin and wife , Rosemarie and James Hardin and his wife, Ann; nephew Chris Hardin and wife, Debby; nieces Misty Carroll and husband, Greg; Kelly McBride, Stacey Hiles and husband, Todd; Kristie Arnette and husband, Eric. Great nephews and great nieces Curtis Hardin, Jay Hardin, Chase Hardin, Nicholas Gregory, Amanda Gregory, Preston Gregory , Grace Hiles, Hunter Arnette, Kasey Arnette, Amber Meyers, Sean Carroll and Jordan McBride. Also his beloved sister-n-law and life-long friend, Kay Hardin. Ray graduated from John Tyler High School and earned his bachelor’s degree in Theology from Abilene Christian University. He did graduate work in American Church History at ACU and in the American Literature at Texas Tech University. He served as a minister at several Churches of Christ before spending ten years in the medical imaging field. At last enjoyed a successful twenty-five year career in residential real estate in Dallas. During much of that time he continued to teach at his local Church of Christ as well as serve as a resource speaker. Sometimes called a pastor without a church, Ray was often sought out to provide spiritual counsel. He was a respected and treasured pastor to business colleagues, family members, students, preachers and friends. He authored two books, “Be Our Strength…Prayers” and “Here’s My Heart…Prayers”, both collections of prayers he wrote and prayed over his Bible classes. Ray was a member of Highland Oaks Church of Christ, and he taught Bible classes there for many years. Visitation will be at Restland of Dallas on Thursday, August 25th from 6 – 8 pm. Christian funeral service will be held at Highland Oaks Church of Christ, 10805 Walnut Hill Lane, Dallas, on Friday, August 26th at 2 o’clock. Private burial will follow in Tyler.
