Raymond Charles LePere Jr.'s Obituary
Raymond Charles Le Pere Jr, passed away on January 2, 2023 at the age of 88 after a long fight with vascular Dementia and Alzheimer’s.
Raymond was born on September 19, 1934 in Dallas, TX to parents Raymond Charles Le Pere and Glenna Barrier Le Pere. Ray grew up in Dallas and California. He graduated from Forest Ave High School in Dallas, and attended SMU before enlisting in the US Army, where he spent 3 years active and 5 years reserve.
Ray had many careers in his lifetime. At a young age he started acting and was signed by the Sarah Norton Agency. He made many TV spots, radio ads, newspaper, and magazine ads, and films. Ray went to Mortuary College and upon graduation he went to work for Dudley Hughes as a licensed mortician. Ray loved radio so he decided to change careers and went to work for KLIF, KRLD, and WFAA as a traffic reporter, and the Dallas police “Cop Shop” reporter. He also won the Katy award for best news story. In his final career he was a deputy sheriff with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department for 30 years.
Ray and his wife Carol were long time members at Sunnyvale First Baptist Church. They were very active in their Omega Sunday school class and volunteered a lot at the food pantry, Wednesday night dinners, and of course at the Sonshine Center.
Ray was a gifted musician and loved music. Before he became ill, he loved playing the organ for hours. He would tell you the history behind songs or pieces of music.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Tom Le Pere and Paul Michael Le Pere, and his wife Carol Le Pere. He is survived by his sister Michele Crosby, and his sister-in-law Maivonne Le Pere both of California. His step daughter Debbie Easton, husband John Easton, and granddaughter Emily Benefield and husband Jeromy Benefield. Step daughter Donna Crumley. Step son Jeff Crumley, and wife Heather Crumley. Granddaughters Katie Russell, husband Jake Russell, and great granddaughter Reese Russell, and Amanda Roden and husband Jacob Roden. He is also survived by nephew Sam Le Pere, and his wife Lisa Lusk, and his niece Kayla Lusk. Nieces Annette Le Pere Yablonovitz of Flordia and Gillian Massie of Arizona. Nephew Charles Le Pere of California, and numerous great nieces and nephews.

A Service for Mr. Raymond Charles Lepere Jr. will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 10:00 AM in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
