Raymond L. Lowrey, age 76, of Derby KS passed away on January 13, 2015 after several months attempting to recover from a stroke and related illnesses. He will be sorely missed by many loved ones and friends. Raymond was born on a farm in Florence Texas, but grew up in Dallas. He attended Forest Avenue High School and served in the Air Force as a medic. He married his loving wife Jeanne in 1962. Together they have 6 children, 22 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Raymond worked for North Texas Municipal Water District in Wylie for 25 years. His job description was doing whatever was needed, especially for his long time boss Mr. Ream. He and Jeanne retired in 2001 and to everyone’s surprise, they moved to Kansas in 2002 to be near their newest grandchildren. They spent 14 years in Kansas watching them grow, attending every recital, sporting event and celebrating every accomplishment. In his younger days, Raymond also served as a reserve police officer first for the Dallas Police Dept and later for the Dallas County Sheriff’s Dept for over 20 years. He had many lifelong friends and was always ready to tell a funny story. He was part of a large family that included his loving mother Ruby and stepfather Buck, 3 wonderful sisters Glenda, Janice, and Sophia, and 3 equally wonderful brother-in-laws Marvin, Richard, and James. He was very close with his many many cousins as well.
